TikTok Shop officially launched September 12, 2023, and it really hit its stride in the last few months and if you are not using TikTok Shop, then you are missing out on a big chunk of possible customers. 

What is a TikTok Shop? 

“TikTok Shop is a one-stop e-commerce solution for driving brand growth and sales directly on TikTok, where entertainment becomes shoppable,” TikTok describes. 

TikTok directly integrates shopping into the “for-you-page” (FYP) of its users by utilizing user-generated content.

“TikTok made me buy it”

TikTok took the world by storm and boasts over 1 billion users. Gen Z and Millenials use TikTok as a place to get information, trends, and news. TikTok states that: “70% of TikTok users discover new brands and products on TikTok.” This does not surprise me. Many users have found themselves ordering something only 20 seconds after learning about it on TikTok (I know I have).

Where TikTok really stands out is its user-generated content (UGC). It seamlessly integrates both content creators and products offering not only a more engaging experience and interactive but also a more “casual” experience for the buyer. 

What do I mean by “casual”? TikTok Shop does a really good job of making most of its TikTok Shop videos look like the videos you would normally find in your FYP, so instead of being sold to by a company it feels like a peer simply recommending you a product. 

What are the benefits of using TikTok Shop for a business? 

First and foremost, the incredible reach and brand awareness you can achieve on this platform is incredible. When you post on TikTok, these videos are not just shown to your followers. The TikTok algorithm can make it so thousands of people can see your content even if they have never heard of your brand.

Hootsuite reported that 35% of TikTok users have bought something directly from the app. With 1 billion users that means 350,000,000 users have bought something from TikTok. The time to get on TikTok Shop was yesterday!
